Help & FAQs

When will I be able to see my profile?

All accounts are reviewed by the Dance/NYC team. Please allow 2-3 business days for your account to be approved, before your profile is publicly viewable.

How do I log in and edit my profile?

To log in, click on the “Log In” link in the navigation bar, the person icon in the top right corner of the page, or visit: https://hub.dance.nyc/login

Once you’re logged in, you’ll be able to update your profile including editing personal information, adding photos or videos, showcasing your skills, and providing any other relevant details that you would like to share with others. This will allow potential clients or collaborators to learn more about you.

Being logged in will also allow you to view the contact information for individual profiles on the Directory.

What is the difference between my “username” and my “display name”?

Your username is what you use to log in to the Directory, and it can’t be changed once your account is created. Your display name is the name that appears publicly on your profile and can be different from the name or contact info linked to your account. You can update your display name at any time on the “My Account” page.

What if I need both Individual and Organization profiles?

If you need both an Individual and an Organization profile, please create separate accounts, each with different usernames and email addresses. All accounts must be unique to ensure privacy and secure data storage.

Is my profile public or private?

Once your account has been approved, your profile will be publicly viewable unless you select “Hide from Directory” in your account settings. This can be changed at any time.

Only logged in users will be able to view any contact information listed on individual profiles.

How do I get my profile featured on the Directory homepage? How often do you feature new profiles?

Dance/NYC selects new profiles to feature on a periodic basis. We consider many factors when selecting these features.

What if a tag or field is missing or unavailable?

If you feel a tag is missing from one of the drop down menus (e.g. dance style, area of expertise, etc.), please feel free to suggest an addition, by using our contact form or by emailing our Communications team at media@dance.nyc.

How often can I update my profile?

You can update your profile as often as you’d like! We will send you a 30-day notice if your account has been inactive for 6 months. If you have not logged in after that time period, your account will be deleted.

How do I resize my images for uploading?

To quickly resize an image to under 1MB, you can use an online image editor like Pixlr (pixlr.com). Simply upload your image, select the “Resize” option, and adjust the image dimensions. You can also use the “Save” feature to lower the image quality slightly, which will reduce the file size. Once you’re done, download your resized image.

How do I link to a specific timestamp in my video?

Videos can be embedded on your profile page using Vimeo or YouTube links. We suggest that you copy and paste the URL links into the video field for accuracy.

YouTube: To link to a specific timestamp in a YouTube video, pause the video at the time you want to share, click “Share,” then check the box that says “Start at [TIMESTAMP]” before copying the link.

Vimeo: On Vimeo, play the video and pause it at the desired time, then right-click and select “Copy video URL at current time.” Share the link and the video will start from that exact moment.

How do I delete my account?

On the “My Account” page, click the “Delete Account” button at the bottom of the form, or the link on the left side under “Account Management”. You will be asked to confirm that you wish to delete your account.

Please be advised that when you delete your account, it will be removed from the site and your profile will no longer appear in the Directory. All the information provided in your Directory profile as well as your personal data will be erased from the website, Directory, and the database. This action cannot be undone.
