Biography

Clarence Brooks has toured North America, Asia, and Western Europe dancing with Nikolais/Murray Louis Dance, Laura Dean, Marcus Schulkind, Ohio Ballet, and Repertory Dance Theatre Ensemble performing works by Marcus Schulkind, Anna Sokolow, George Balanchine, Loyce Houlton, Bill Evans, Jean Erdman, Heinz Poll, Edward Villella, Conrad Ludlow, and Robin Becker. They were a featured model in Allen Edmonds centennial celebration and catalog, can be seen in the video documentary “World of Alwin Nikolais”, and the Library of Congress archived their performance of Talley Beatty’s poignant solo, “Mourner’s Bench”. Clarence holds BFA and MFA degrees in dance and somatic certifications in yoga, Laban/Bartenieff Movement Analysis, Simonson Technique, and Evans Technique. They sit on the boards of danceTactics performance group, Sokolow Theatre/Dance Ensemble, and Miami Dance Futures. Clarence currently freelances with Pioneer Winter Collective (Miami), The Dance Exchange (DC), Sokolow Theatre/Dance Ensemble (NY), David Parker and The Bang Group (NY), Megan Williams Dance Projects (NY), and danceTactics performance group (NY).
