About us

Dance Entropy Inc. is a professional not-for-profit dance organization created in 1998 by Artistic Director Valerie Green. The company home base, Green Space, is a 2000 square foot studio with views overlooking Manhattan. Founded in 2005, Green Space also serves as a rehearsal, class, and performance venue servicing the greater New York City dance community. Our goal is to create a platform for multicultural understanding through dance, nurture connections between dance creation and education, build community among dance artists in Queens, and form ties between artists, students, audience, and community supporters. Green Space offers quality low-cost rehearsal space to approximately 330 choreographers per year representing diverse aesthetics of dance.

Programming / Repertoire / Offerings

Through our performance programs including Fertile Ground, Take Root, and the D.I.G. Residency, we are proud to present new works from around 75 choreographers each season. We embrace the diversity of Long Island City as an asset, encouraging exchange on an artistic, educational, and interactive level. Our Outreach Programs bring our services to the local community and cultural centers, providing performances and workshops for underserved populations including at-risk youth, trauma survivors, the formerly incarcerated, addiction rehabilitation patients, older adults, immigrant communities, and those with differing abilities.
