Biography

Abby is a dance artist from Hong Kong, now based in Brooklyn, New York. A graduate of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, she began her career with the City Contemporary Dance Company. She is the founder of Chan-can-dance Theatre and co-artistic director of McMuiMui Dansemble. A four-time Hong Kong Dance Award recipient, she also received the Lee Hysan Foundation Fellowship from the Asian Cultural Council. Her choreographic and performance work has been presented internationally in cities such as Hong Kong, Seoul, Tokyo, Kuala Lumpur, Sydney, São Paulo, and New York. Abby has collaborated as a movement director and performer with O Theatre Workshop, Trinity Theatre, Reframe Theatre, and Dionysus Contemporary Theatre. Recent projects include Kidult Ophelia, Cattle Runway, MMM: Re, The Next 20 Hins Live Concert, and Footsteps Reimagined. She also develops creative movement and wellness programs for older adults. Currently, she performs with Grand Pistachio, a puppetry theater company in New York, and collaborates with Double Image Theater Lab to explore the intersections of dance, theatre, and storytelling.
