Biography

Gnama Hartney discovered her love for dance at 3 and has since been studying jazz, ballet, modern, and contemporary. She studied dance at The Moving Company Dance Center in Cockeysville, Maryland. While studying under Dana Martin and the faculty of the Moving Company, including Lindsey Hendrick, Sarah Cincotta-Yan, and Fleur Colimore, Gnama honed her skills within the specific techniques of Limón, Humphrey, Cecchetti, and Broadway Jazz. Gnama is a recent graduate of Muhlenberg College with a Bachelor of Arts in Dance, with an education concentration, and French & Francophone Studies. Under the mentorship of dance professors, Heidi Cruz-Austin, Randall Anthony Smith, Robyn Watson, Natalie Gotter, Elizabeth Bergman, Anito Gavino, and Megan Flynn, Gnama has grown tremendously as a dancer and creator while at Muhlenberg. Outside of college, Gnama has danced at the Koresh Dance Company’s Fall 2023 Artist showcase as a cast member in Paige Majewski’s dance, If I Stop Entertaining You…,. Currently, Gnama teaches Middle School dance for Baltimore County Public Schools. She is also teaching modern, ballet, at local dance studios in the Baltimore area. In the future Gnama hopes to continue creating, performing, and growing as an artist.
