About us

Groove With Me is a free dance school for girls from East Harlem & the South Bronx. A youth development organization, it offers a safe, supportive space for self-expression, confidence, creativity, and discipline. Our program fosters positive choices for young women, helping them to overcome daily & future challenges. Liane Brouillette finds that to become successful adults, children need to learn the ability to persist in goal-oriented activity, to seek help when needed, and to participate in and benefit from relationships. Dance, specifically, has been shown to improve mental health by reducing anxiety and depression, enhancing emotional resilience, and fostering a sense of accomplishment and pride. Groove With Me was founded almost 30 years ago and housed in a 7200 sq. ft. facility on 123rd St. in East Harlem.

Programming / Repertoire / Offerings

We enroll 200 girls in 42 free weekly classes taught by 27 volunteer dance teachers. There is a recital in June and many opportunities to perform throughout the year.
