On the grand staircase of John Jay's rooftop "Jay Walk" a giant orange dress spans the entire width and depth of the stairway, a tiny dancer wearing the dress at the top of the stairs (Lonnie Stanton) gestures gently to the side as the sunset changes the light of the space to a deep pink glow.

About us

Kinesis Project dance theatre is dedicated to creating large-scale, site-specific, and unexpectedly intimate dance performances, primarily in public space. Kinesis Project dances are inspired by Riker’s questions about the world around us. Those questions are excavated and answered through a generative, collaborative process with the dancers and designers of Kinesis Project. As the work moves into a site, Riker focuses on the expanse, scope and depth of the environment. Dances then further evolve based on the site, resulting in unique and custom performances in each space that the company enters.
