Creatives Rebuild New York
CRNY launched the “Portrait of New York State Artists” survey in February 2022 to build a portrait of the needs, circumstances, and experiences of artists across New York State. CRNY used data from this survey to conduct advocacy and narrative change work, and to assess whether the funding provided to artists through CRNY’s programs helped meet the needs of individual artists in any substantive or transformational ways.

The report explores various aspects of Teaching Artist work, including compensation models, benefits, career sustainability, and challenges faced by these professionals.
Creatives Rebuild New York
The teams from Creatives Rebuild New York (CRNY) and Artists At Work (AAW) collaborated to explore for portable benefits and other worker protection solutions tailored to the unique needs of artists and creative workers. This Snapshot is meant to inspire state and local government, philanthropy, researchers, and policymakers to further investigate the possibility of portable benefits for artists.
